Hamilton’s Forge FC have excelled in 2025 and are currently on an 18-game unbeaten run, including 15 undefeated in the Canadian Premier League (CPL).
The soccer club, which plays at Hamilton Stadium (formerly Tim Horton’s Field), are fresh off of a 2-0 home win against Pacific FC last Friday.
With that win, the team broke the CPL record for the most games unbeaten in a row.
The record was previously also held by Forge, who went 14 games unbeaten in 2019 in what was their very first season.
In the league this year, Forge have eight wins, seven draws, and zero losses.
Despite being unbeaten, the team is not in first place in the league.
Athletico Ottawa has nine wins, five draws, and one loss, earning them 32 points in the standings – just one ahead of Forge.
On Friday, Daniel Nimick converted a penalty kick against Pacific in the 78th minute to open the score before Nana Ampomah slotted in a rebound in the 80th minute.
Czech goalkeeper Jassem Koleilat made one save for his seventh clean sheet of the season.
Forge FC have also gone undefeated in their three Canadian Championship matches this season.
The Canadian Championship includes opponents from Major League Soccer.
Forge won a dramatic quarter-final matchup against CF Montreal by a score of 3-2 over two legs at the beginning of July – only their second time beating an MLS opponent.
They will now face the strong Vancouver Whitecaps MLS side in the competition’s semi-final.
The first leg will be held on Wednesday, August 13 at 6 PM at Hamilton Stadium, with the second leg set for Tuesday, September 16 at 9 PM at B.C. Place in Vancouver.
There are also 13 games left in the CPL season, with the CPL Shield awarded to the club that finishes at the top of the standings.
At the end of the regular season there is also a playoff bracket, with the winning club awarded the North Star Cup.
Forge FC won the CPL Shield in 2024 but lost the playoff final 2-1 against Calvary FC.
Their next CPL match is tonight (Fri, Jul. 25) at 5 PM in Halifax.
Two of Forge’s standout players this season are new additions to the team.
Newly signed Canadian striker Brian Wright has been Forge’s top scorer in the CPL so far, with 7 goals in 14 matches.
He played for York United FC the past two seasons.
Canadian defender Daniel Nimick, 24, is also having a great CPL season with two goals and three assists, despite playing centreback.
Forge signed Nimick from Halifax Wanderers.
