Coca-Cola Canada Bottling Limited is investing $8 million towards refurbishment of its distribution centre located in Hamilton.
The facility, located at 1575 Barton Street East near Parkdale Avenue North, currently employs approximately 150 people.
The investment will reportedly go towards roofing repairs, repaving, and improving fencing.
As announced in May, the centre aims to complete the relevant work over the course of three years, hoping to wrap up by 2026.
Coca-Cola has had a presence in Hamilton since 1924.
The distribution centre serves about 3,300 customers through 15 vendors and partners.
The centre contributes approximately $675,000 to the local economy each year.
A company statement read that the company is “on a journey to be the leading beverage partner in Canada.”
“We know that to achieve this, we must fuel our growth through investments. We are proud to be Hamilton’s Local Bottler.”
CEO of Coke Canada Bottling Todd Parsons also commented.
“As Hamilton’s local bottler, we are committed to investing in our future in the city and surrounding areas as we continue to grow our local business,” he said.
“We are a family-owned business and are guided by our Mission to deliver optimism and create a better future for our customers, consumers, and communities. As Hamilton’s Local Bottler, I’m proud that these investments set us up for continued growth, while ensuring we meet best practices for our facilities.”
The Hamilton centre distributes, merchandises, and sells the brand throughout the Niagara region, Hamilton, and Brantford.
The refurbishments come as the City of Hamilton has been attracting a wide range of companies to the area.
The city’s strategic location close to multiple 400-series highways, the Greater Toronto Area, and the United States border are powerful motivating factors for companies looking to open up in the region.
Hamilton International Airport, railway corridors, and the availability of Lake Ontario ports and shipping routes are also attractive features helping draw more investment to the area.
