The City of Hamilton has launched a new online service hub and reporting portal “designed to make it easier to submit service requests and track progress.”
The new hub, located at my.hamilton.ca, offers multiple services.
Residents are able to schedule a bulk waste pickup, order extra trash tags, and request an additional green bin using the tool.
Users are also able to apply for an outdoor patio or parking permit or request the suspension of a parking restriction.
The tool also provides links for property owners to register their apartment building as required by the new Safe Apartment By-law and a link for residents to submit their annual declaration as required by the Vacant Unit Tax.
Furthermore, the portal includes links to other city services, such as paying parking tickets and provincial offences fines, the city’s project engagement site, and the recreation programming registration site.
There are also two links at the bottom of the portal page called “Ask City” and “Report a Problem,” which provide new options for residents to contact the city.
The “Ask City” and “Report a Problem” options are also accessible via a separate website link called services.my.hamilton.ca.
By clicking the “Ask City” or “Ask a Question” link, residents are able to contact city officials with questions directly through the portal.
By clicking the “Report a Problem” option, residents can report several different issues, including illegal dumping, a dead animal, a pothole, a tree issue, a vacant property, dumped garbage, graffiti, illegal parking, litter or debris, missing snow/ice clearing, a traffic sign or light issue, or any other issue.
For urgent reporting, the city still encourages residents to contact the Customer Contact Centre at 905-546-2489 (CITY).
The city says that the portal represents the “first phase of a broader effort to improve how residents receive city services.”
They say that “additional services and features will be added over time as the portal continues to evolve.”
Hamilton City Manager Marnie Cluckie commented, “My Hamilton provides secure, on-demand access to services from any device. Residents told us they want services that are easier to access and easier to track. This portal helps deliver that by providing one place to submit requests and receive updates, while continuing to offer phone and in-person support.”
It should be noted that users must create an account with the city in order to access and submit specific requests for services through the portal.
Additionally, the city says that if a service is not yet available through the portal, then residents should visit hamilton.ca for other requests.
