Porter Airlines recently announced that it will be expanding its service out of John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM) with flights to Montreal and Ottawa starting on June 22, 2026.
Both routes will have two departures out of Hamilton and two arrivals per day and will operate on Porter’s 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft.
Flights to Montreal will go to the Montreal Metropolitan Airport (YHU), formerly known as the Montreal Saint-Hubert – Longueuil Airport, which is located about 15 kilometres from Downtown Montreal.
The Montreal Metropolitan Airport recently underwent a significant update, with the construction of a new passenger terminal.
Michael Deluce, CEO of Porter Airlines, called the new Montreal terminal “modern,” and added that it “provides an efficient and welcoming passenger experience that will save travellers substantial time.”
“It raises the bar for travel in Canada.”
Flights from Hamilton to Montreal will depart at 6:15 a.m. and 3:50 p.m. every day, while returning flights will arrive in Hamilton at 5:25 p.m. and 8:25 p.m. every day.
Flights to Ottawa will go to the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW), which is located about 15 kilometres outside the city’s downtown.
Flights from Hamilton to Ottawa will depart at 10:25 a.m. and 6:35 p.m. every day, with returning flights arriving in Hamilton at 9:43 a.m. and 3:08 p.m. every day.
Prices for a one-way flight to either Ottawa or Montreal from Hamilton appear to start at approximately $180.
Since Porter started their operations out of Hamilton, they have doubled their domestic network from the airport, expanding from four Canadian destinations to eight.
Non-stop flights to Calgary, Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Halifax, Nova Scotia and Vancouver, British Columbia started in June 2025, and new service to St. John’s, Newfoundland, and Winnipeg, Manitoba starts on May 15, 2026.
Flights from Hamilton to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, will also leave Hamilton two times per week throughout the summer.
It appears that Porter’s flights to other sun destinations, including Orlando, Florida, Nassau, Bahamas, Cancun, Mexico, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, are just for the winter months.
WestJet also continues to operate non-stop service to Calgary five times a week from Hamilton.
Peter Tong, CEO of Hamilton International Airport, says that Porter’s additional service “highlights the momentum we’re building in the region and the increasing demand from both business and leisure travellers.”
“With recent investments in airport infrastructure, including the addition of passenger jet bridges, we’re elevating the travel experience for every guest – delivering speed, ease, and comfort at every step of the journey,” he continued.
It should be noted that all three cities – Hamilton, Montreal, and Ottawa – have teams in the Canadian Football League (CFL), so the new flight routes will also make travel easier for football fans.
